I am a clinical depression patient. I have been afflicted with this illness for the past decade. Though it has caused me much anguish and despair, recently I’ve experienced an awakening – one that allows me to feel joy once again!
If you are familiar with my story, you know that it was rife with tragedy: the loss of my beloved husband, two children’s abandonment, along with bankruptcy and utter destruction of our home all contributed towards bringing on my debilitating depression. It felt like one’s life had come crashing down around them – nothing could be done to stop the avalanche which had begun its descent!

In November 2013, I began my quest for answers regarding depression and anxiety by reaching out to psychiatrists in my area. Despite the alarming numbers of people who suffer from these diagnoses, many still have no idea what it feels like to live with them on a day-to-day basis. With that in mind, I made it my mission to unearth success stories of those who’ve overcome their experiences with mental illness by seeking help early on.
Indeed, such individuals exist – but they are surprisingly uncommon!
The answer eventually came in the form of a friendly young man named Adam, who was quite eager to share his story with me. After all—he had never come across one before!
Adam is an extremely successful attorney that hails from a background steeped in adversity: at just fifteen years old his father tragically passed away due to cancer; later that same year his mother suffered a frightening relapse after surgery on her throat.
